Flavors of the Avenue returns to East Passyunk with All New Street Festival

It’s one of the most eagerly anticipated food events in the city, and on Sunday, April 30, Flavors of the Avenue is taking a slightly different approach — moving the whole sensory bonanza onto East Passyunk Avenue.

Eschewing previous year’s food tents for a straight-up street jam, the food festival will still feature the neighborhood’s astounding array of excellent restaurants — more than two dozen in total. Each will supply small-plate versions of their signature dishes, many of which trot the globe and back.

The Fed raises interest rates again saying 'economy is doing well'

WASHINGTON-- Don’t look now, but nearly eight years after the Great Recession ended, it’s finally starting to feel like a normal economy again, at least judging by the Federal Reserve’s second interest rate hike in three months

The Fed on Wednesday March, 15th raised its benchmark short-term rate by a quarter percentage point to a range of 0.75% to 1% and stuck to its forecast of two more such increases this year and three in 2018. Some economists had expected Fed policymakers to modestly step up the pace.

Wall Street cheered the Fed’s decision but reacted with restraint. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 113 points, or 0.5%, to 20,950. “The market got everything it wanted,” said Ma...

O’Brien, Councilman Mark Squilla, and Sarah McEneaney, President of Friends of the Rail Park and the Callowhill Neighborhood Association, joined Center City District (CCD) President Paul R. Adopting a new pet is easy. The main shelter facility is open weekdays from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. and weekends and holidays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. ACCT Philly has  numerous other adoption locations where pets are housed or visit weekly and monthly. Please bring photo ID with your current name and address.

Adoption fees vary from as low as zero dollars – that’s right, no fee – to $300 depending on the age, species and type of animal. ACCT Philly frequently offers special adoption discounts and promotions; check out the News page for details!
